DISCUSSION QUESTIONS -

Matthew 13:31-32 -

31 He put another parable before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. 32 It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.”

  • Something small can grow into something great when it is cultivated. What is a simple virtue you are trying to sow in your life and in your family? ( ex. forgiveness, love, faith, generosity…)

  • How does the kingdom of heaven grow? (How do more people become believers in Jesus?) Are you actively involved in this process?

  • If we’re intentionally living virtuous lives and sharing the gospel with others what harvest can we expect to reap as a result?

Matthew 13:23 -

23 As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.”

  • What happens when we read the Bible, understand it, and apply it to our lives? Why is this important? Where can we go for help to understand God’s Word?

  • What is the difference in “good soil” and “bad soil” according to Jesus in Matthew 13? How can we protect our lives and ensure we’re free from the rocks and thorns that will prevent us from understanding the word of God?

  • Where are you sowing the word of God? Are you spreading the gospel everywhere you go like the sower in the parable?

  • How can we pray for you?
